I have spent 21 years in this wonderful, historic home. I raised a daughter here and have memories that will last a lifetime. For many years, I ran my advertising business out of the back section, which in the mid-1800’s, was a barn. Now, I’m ready to move into a new phase of life, and hope to welcome new owners who will love this property as much as I have.
I purchased this house from Clara Haddenhorst in 1988, who also raised her family here. The story goes that her husband, George, was actually born in the front bedroom. I am the fifth owner of the property in the last 164 years. Clara was a gardener, as I am. She also ran her greeting card and wedding invitation business from this house.
This is one of Quincy oldest homes, built circa 1845. The Architectural history speculates that the barn (addition) in the back was built first, the main house was built later, and the kitchen and breezeway were added much later to join the two structures.
